I mean this seriously , and I know a lot of blogs out there make the promise of "I'll listen to whoever" but I mean it. No matter if you broke a nail, got into a fight, lost someone, whatever high or low, I want you to know I'll be here. Even if my ask limit is exceeded I'll give out my email to those we need it.
Like, more than I was with the old one. And mind you, I wasn’t offended at all.
I’m going to step into the parenting role that I was built for even though I have no children, don’t mind me. XD
Let’s take a moment and think about the people who believed that the character of Derpy Hooves was being offensive to people who were mentally challenged. I can’t see that, but still. Her voice was a little off, her eyes a little weird, she’s a bit clumsy, and her name was Derpy, which I, a special education student/adult/whatever has been called. Ok, that seems alright. If there was a person like that I knew in real life I’d be fine with that.
And then, with all the outrage that people had against it, THEY CHANGED HER TO BE MORE LIKE THE OTHER PONIES.
Think about what I just said.
You have a special education child? We accept them, and if someone doesn’t they (should) get punished for it. There’s a slightly-weird-looking pony on a television show? “OH HELL NO GET THAT TERRIBLE THING AWAY FROM MY CHILD! CHANGE THAT FIEND SO MY CHILD WILL NEVER LEARN ACCEPTANCE! YEAH THIS SEEMS TOTALLY LOGICAL!”
Derpy, at the very least, could help children see that nobody’s perfect and nobody’s normal. But CHANGING HER just shows them that “oh, this person’s not like everyone else? LET’S MAKE THEM FEEL BAD AND MAKE THEM FEEL LIKE THEY SHOULD CHANGE THEMSELVES.”
Would you try to change your child if she was like Derpy-Hooves? No, didn’t think so.
So what gives you the right to change someone that doesn’t exist that could actually help be a learning experience to your child?
And, to people who are in support of the new Derpy:
1: You’re ugly. 2: I hate your tumblr. 3: I love your tumblr. 4: You’re my Tumblr crush. 5: Your Tumblr is amazing. 6: You’re hot. 7: You’re gorgeous. 8: You’re pretty. 9: I want your number. 10: I’m on your blog often.
